When God Is Left Behind: A Prophetic Word to the Church and Nation (Nigeria)

Introduction: The Silent Departure
Beloved, there is a danger more subtle than open rebellion—it is the quiet assumption that God is still with us when we have already moved ahead of His presence.
Samson rose and declared, “I will go out as before.”
But Scripture reveals—he did not know that the Lord had departed from him (Judges 16:20).
Nigeria stands in a similar tension.
The Church is active. The nation is in motion.
Yet beneath the activity lies a piercing question:
Have we carried God with us—or have we only carried the appearance of Him?
Yoruba prophetic insight:
“A kì í mọ̀ pé iná ti kú, ká máa fẹ́ èéfín.”
(You do not keep fanning smoke when the fire has already gone out.)

The Prophetic Parable: The Hunter Who Forgot What Matters:
In a hunting village, men earned titles by the beasts they conquered—Ap’ẹ̀kùn (Leopard Killer), Ap’erin (Elephant Killer).
A bold hunter once set out to kill lions to earn a higher honor. He fortified himself with charms—but in haste, driven by ambition, he forgot his gunpowder.
In the forest, he met a lion first. He fired—but not fatally.
The lion charged.
He climbed a tree to reload—only to discover the truth:
what he needed most was not with him.
The pride gathered. He was stranded.
Others came. One lion fell—by another hunter.
And the title he sought went elsewhere.
Prophetic truth:
Confidence without completeness is collapse waiting for a moment.
Yoruba weight:
“Ọkùnrin tí ó gbàgbé ìbọn rẹ̀, kì í bá kìnìún ja.”
(The man who forgets his ammunition cannot confront a lion.)
When Confidence Hides Deficiency—Until Crisis Reveals It
The absence of gunpowder did not matter—until the lion appeared.
Crisis exposes substance.

Nigeria is facing its lions:
• Economic strain
• Insecurity
• Institutional fragility
• Social distrust
What we truly carry is now being tested.
Yoruba prophetic warning:
“Ọjọ́ ogun kì í jẹ́ ká fi aṣọ àṣejù bò ìbànújẹ́.”
(The day of battle does not allow pretense to hide weakness.)

Movement Without Manifest Presence
After a great miracle, Jesus sent His disciples ahead (Matthew 14:22–30). They were in motion—but without His manifested presence in the boat.
Night fell.
The wind rose.
The sea resisted them.
They were advancing—but struggling.
This is the picture of a Church and a nation:
• Effort without ease
• Motion without stability
• Progress without peace
There is a difference between being sent by God and being sustained by His presence.
The Fourth Watch: God Still Comes
In the darkest hour, Jesus came—walking on the storm.
Nigeria is in a “fourth watch” season:
• When strength is thinning
• When hope is strained
• When systems feel overwhelmed
But hear this:
What threatens us is still under God’s feet.
Yoruba declaration:
“Ìjì líle kì í ju Olúwa lọ.”
(No storm is greater than the Lord.)
When Focus Shifts, Sinking Begins
Peter walked—but sank when focus shifted.
So it is with us:
• When fear drives decisions
• When pressure shapes truth
• When survival overrides conviction
We sink—not because God failed, but because focus shifted.
Yoruba insight:
“Ẹni tí ojú rẹ̀ bá yí kúrò lórí ọ̀nà, ìsẹ̀ rẹ̀á bàjẹ́.”
(When the eyes leave the path, the steps will falter.)

The Church at a Crossroads
The crisis of the Church is not silence—but entanglement.
When:
• Truth is softened for access
• Unity is preserved at the expense of righteousness • Influence replaces integrity
We carry form without power.

And confusion follows:
For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. James 3:16

Yoruba rebuke:
“Ìjọ tí kò ní òtítọ́, kì í ní agbára.”
(A church without truth cannot carry power.)

The Nation: Building Without the Builder
“Unless the Lord builds the house…” (Psalm 127:1)
Without God:
• Strategy becomes strain
• Leadership becomes burden
• Progress becomes fragile
Nigeria is active—but misalignment produces cycles, not transformation.

A Prophetic Warning Toward the 2027 Elections
As Nigeria moves toward the 2027 general elections, a sober warning must be sounded.
Scripture declares (Proverbs 29:2):
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.”
Nigeria is already groaning,
Therefore hear this:
Power is not merely to be won—it is a trust to be carried.
Do not seek the throne without responsibility.
Do not build influence on falsehood.
Do not inflame ethnic or religious division.
Do not mistake endorsement for divine approval.
Because beyond the ballot is higher judgment.
If the process toward 2027 is driven by:
• Manipulation instead of truth
• Ambition instead of service
• Strategy without conscience
Then even victory will not produce peace.
Power obtained without righteousness will struggle to govern what it has gained.
Yet hear the redemptive call:
If you choose truth over manipulation, service over ambition, and conscience over convenience—
God will not only grant position, but He will also grant capacity.
Yoruba prophetic warning:
“Àga tí a fi èké jókòó, òótọ́ ni yóò tú u.”
(A throne built on falsehood will be overturned by truth.)

A Prophetic Warning Concerning Politically-Coloured Gifts
In seasons like this, gifts will increase.
Support will come.
Partnerships will be proposed.
But not every gift is a blessing.
Scripture warns (Exodus 23:8):
“You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of the righteous.”
And again (Proverbs 17:23):
“A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back to pervert the ways of justice.”
Therefore, hear this—especially to the Church:
Not every gift is innocent.
Some gifts carry expectations.
Some support demands silence.
When gifts are received without discernment:
• Correction becomes difficult
• Truth becomes selective
• Conscience becomes negotiated
Do not trade your voice for access.
Access to power is not influence with God.
Once the voice of the Church is perceived as purchased:
• Its warnings lose weight
• Its counsel loses trust
• Its authority diminishes
Prophetic warning:
Any gift that reduces your ability to speak truth is not a blessing—it is a burden.
Redemptive call:
Receive with discernment.
Relate with integrity.
Stand with independence.
Let your voice remain free—even if your access becomes limited.
Yoruba prophetic weight:
“Ẹ̀bùn tí yóò pa òtítọ́ mọ́lẹ̀, kì í ṣe ìbùkún—ìdẹkùn ni.”
(A gift that silences truth is not a blessing—it is a trap.)
“Ọwọ́ tí ó gba ẹ̀bùn gbọ́dọ̀ ṣọ́ra, kó má bà a di ẹrú.”
(The hand that receives a gift must beware lest it becomes enslaved.)
Final prophetic line:
When gifts begin to control truth, destiny has already been negotiated.
When Help Is Redirected
The hunter was rescued—but not crowned.
God is not dependent on systems.
If we do not carry Him rightly:
• He will raise other voices
• He will shift relevance
• He will bypass assumed authority
Standing at the Edge of Destiny
Nigeria is not empty of potential.
We are close—
But closeness is not completion.
The hunter saw the lion—but lost the moment.
We must not do the same.

The Call: Return and Realign
The issue is not ignorance—it is omission.
Return is not emotion—it is repentance expressed in changed alignment.
To the Church:
Return to holiness.
Return to truth.
Return to God’s presence.
To the Nation:
Rebuild on justice.
Honor truth.
Restore moral foundations.
Yoruba call:
“Ẹ padà sí Olúwa—níbẹ̀ ni ìyè wà.”
(Return to the Lord—there lies life.)

Prophetic Declaration
Nigeria will not remain stranded.
The storm will not have the final word.
But hear this clearly:
If we continue with symbols without substance,
motion without God, voice without truth—
we will remain at the edge of breakthrough.

Conclusion: Carry What Finishes the Journey
It was not the one who started—but the one who carried what was necessary.
Beloved:
Do not face tomorrow with empty reserves.
Do not carry God’s name without His presence.
In the day of pressure, what you carried in secret will answer for you in public.
Yoruba final strike:
“Ohun tí a rú lọ́kàn, ni yóò hàn níta.”
(What is carried within will be revealed openly.)

Closing Prayer
Lord, have mercy on Your Church in Nigeria.
Restore truth where it has been compromised.
Restore courage where it has been silenced.
Restore Your presence where it has been replaced.
Step into our storm.
Let every wind bow.
Raise leaders who fear You more than power.
Let righteousness rise again.
Let justice speak again.
Let truth lead again.
So that Nigeria will not miss her moment.
